Musical icon Anne Murray was the first Canadian female solo singer to hit #1 on the U.S. charts and the first to earn a Gold record. Of course that Gold record was for her international hit and signature song, 1970’s ’Snowbird’.
Anne started her musical career in the 1960s and had a sizeable hit on Canadian radio with a Scott McKenzie tune ‘What About Me’, But in was in the 1970s when she really came into her own, eventually reaching superstar status and paving the way for other Canadian female singers such as Celine Dion and Shania Twain.
In 1973 Anne Murray gave a televised concert for a studio audience that showcased her talent and captured this powerful singer at the top of her game. Her is that concert which aired on The Talk Of The Town TV series. Enjoy!
You can listen to music from Anne Murray and Canadian music makers from the 60s, 70s and 80s on Dusty Discs Radio.
