Rare Video: Mary Jane Girls brief interview by Dick Clark on American Bandstand, 1985

In the 1980s the R&B, soul, funk group Mary Jane Girls were known for: a) being protégées of Rick James; b) their hit song ‘In My House’; c) their stage persona “characters” essentially their names and attire.

In 1985 ‘In My House’ was in the top 10 on the Billboard Charts and it reached #1 on the US Dance charts. After performing this hit on American Bandstand, the shows host Dick Clark did a brief interview with the girls (Corvette, Candi, JoJo, Maxi) about their look, their songs and tour, having Rick James as a producer and more.
