In 1985 Patti LaBelle appeared on the TV special Motown Returns To The Apollo and was part of the star-studded Live Aid benefit concert. Exposure from these two appearances turned her into a pop star and landed her a TV special of her own later that same year.
The aptly named The Patti LaBelle Show featured Patti performing with some other stars of the day including Luther Vandross, Amy Grant - and Cyndi Lauper who had been dominating the music charts since the release of her single “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” back in 1983.
This video features LaBelle and Lauper joining their powerful talents - and having a ball - performing two of the biggest songs of the period - LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade” and Lauper’s “Time After Time”. Enjoy watching these fabulous women, and listen to their music along with other great artists from the 60s, 70s & 80s on Dusty Discs Radio.
